Introducing the Heroic K9s at the Annual Fundraiser Join us in celebrating the remarkable skills of our police K9s at the Tehama County K9 fundraiser, a lively and educational event held every August at A&R Meats. This family-friendly gathering welcomes attendees of all ages. Participants can further support the K9 program by purchasing apparel from the Tehama K9 Foundation during the event. The Tehama County K9 Foundation invites everyone to “savor delicious food provided by our sponsor, A&R, and consider taking home a cuddly K9 plush toy!” As a 501(c)(3) non-profit organization, the Tehama County K9 Foundation is dedicated to supporting law enforcement K9 teams throughout Tehama County. The Foundation explains, “K9 teams serve various essential roles. Primarily, K9s utilize their extraordinary sense of smell, which is over 100 times more sensitive than that of humans, enabling them to locate individuals or contraband more efficiently than their human counterparts. K9s trained for apprehension also act as a deterrent to potential violent situations; often, their mere presence and sound can avert the need for force. While it is challenging to quantify the enhanced efficiency of K9 teams compared to individual officers or deputies, we recognize that in our rural community, they are invaluable assets in ensuring the safety of our deputies, officers, and the community members they protect.”
